So I got an email today for World Vision describing the drastic food shortage that threatens the lives of more than 15 million people in sub-Saharan Africa, over a third of them small children.

This is very sad, there is so much wealth in this country, and so much poverty elsewhere. Why, just a few weeks ago, one person won something like 340 million dollars in the lottery. And so much more was actually raised since only a portion of the proceeds goes to the jackpot. And everyone who played basically wasted their money. What if there was a way to spend only a little money, but have it actually do something helpful in this world?
